About me     

SallyRae GobleMy experience is wide ranging.  I lived and worked in rural Northern California when I was first licensed then moved to Alaska and the Aleutian Islands to work for Eastern Aleutian Tribes as an Itinerant Mental Health Counselor.  I moved to Fairbanks in 1995 and traveled from there to 9 interior villages to provide mental health services.  From 1997 to 2001 I lived in Juneau, Alaska and worked first with chronically mentally ill then as an EAP clinician with Magellan Behavioral Health.  In 2002 I started my Private Practice in Eagle River, Alaska and began my focus on Couples counseling, and working with adolescents and Military Members.  In late 2007 I moved to New Mexico to work in a health clinic on the Eastern Edge of the Navajo Reservation for 3 years. In 2010 I worked on contract with the Department of Defense with military families in Texas, New Mexico and Germany.  I am now back in my beloved Alaska working out of my private practice offices in Eagle River and Palmer.

I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from California College of Arts and Crafts, (Oakland, California) in 1971, A Master’s Degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University, (Rohnert Park, California) in 1989 and did Master’s study in Marital and Family Counseling Psychology at Humboldt State university, (Arcata, California) from 1990 to 1993 when I was licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

I have specialized training in Art Therapy from the Person Centered Art Therapy Institute, training in couples and individual therapy using the Gottman, Atkinson , and Real methods, training in Critical Incident Stress Management using the Mitchell model and training in therapies for PTSD using EMDR and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.  I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy with individuals and couples  and I also have training in and use sand-tray and play therapy with children.
